Sebelum pergi ke alas Dhoyong Demang Wanaprawira pergi ke rumah kakaknya untuk mencari informasi/meminta wejayang, yang pada akhirnya mereka pergi bersama-sama ke alas Dhoyong. Disana mereka bertapa selama 40 hari 40 malam, mereka akhirnya berhasil memindahkan kadipaten Sumengkar ke alas Dhoyong dan yang tadinya bernama kadipaten Sumengkar diubah menjadi Gunungkidul sampai sekarang
