<p>Apodado como «El Monstruo de Machala» por la brutalidad con la que asesinó a sus víctimas, Gilberto Antonio Chamba Jaramillo se encuentra recluido desde 1993 en el Módulo 6 del Centre Penitenciari de Quatre Camins, en Cataluña.<br>Cometió la mayor parte de los crímenes en Ecuador, de donde es oriundo. Huyó a España, pero no dejó atrás su instinto asesino y volvió a matar. Se aprovechaba de las mujeres solas, indefensas o en situación de vulnerabilidad.<br>La prensa le llamó «Monstruo» y es el término justo para definir la naturaleza de este sujeto que podría recuperar la libertad al cumplir 25 años en prisión. ¿Puede la sociedad correr ese riesgo? La discusión se mantiene vigente.</p>
