Christocentric Identity | Ephesians 1:1-2 | Pastor Popolo
Episode Summary:
Today marks the beginning of our new sermon series through the Book of Ephesians! As we launch "We Are the Church," we discover why finding your identity in Christ must come before anything else—before service, before ministry, before anything we accomplish for God.
Key Takeaways:
Identity First, Then Action: Who you are in Christ must be clarified before what you do for Christ. As Paul teaches, "who you are precedes what you do."
Three Identity Markers from Ephesians 1:1-2:
Service Identity – Paul doesn't define himself by his past but by his calling "by the will of God"
Status Identity – Believers are "saints" (set apart for God), not because of perfection but because of position
Faithful Living – Evidence of being set apart manifests through faithfulness
Breaking Free from Performance:
Service should flow from who you already are in Christ—not serve to earn acceptance
Church Vision Alignment:
How Ephesians' message resonates with BCC's mission to make disciples and reach communities with God's love
