Welcome to Dates with Dementia, my way of expressing my relationship with my late Grandmother as her mental state deteriorated. I've wanted to write about the good, the bad and the ugly with degenerative brain disease but never been able to express myself as well as I can through verbal storytelling. There will be fun stories involving carrots, and sad stories about complete lack of recognition, diving into the past and into how she coped with the modern world.

<p>Hi everyone and welcome to my first ever podcast all about my Grandma and her relationship with food.</p> <p>My Grandma sadly passed away in 2019 after over 10 years struggling with a difficult mental disease. I've always wanted to write about this but never been able to express myself as well as I'd like to so thought I would try this way.</p> <p>There's a lot of rambling about various bits I get side-tracked on, but overall I just want to express how difficult it was for her, and how difficult it was to see a very talented cook not be able to do the things she knew she once could.</p> <p>But its not all doom and gloom, some of the most fabulous moments I ever had with Grandma came from her memory troubles.</p> <p><br></p> <p>I'm planning on doing a whole series about this, any questions are welcome, as is any feedback.</p> <p><br></p> <p>I hope you leave this with a little smile, and a little more understanding of degenerative brain disease.</p>
