Ep. 3: Brenton Emanuel - Eastern Illinois University

On Episode 3 of the EIU Throws Podcast I got the chance to hangout with the man himself, Brenton Emanuel. Coach Emanuel is currently the Director of Track & Field at Eastern Illinois University. Topics included building a positive culture within your program, raising the bar of expectations, adjusting to being a head coach, how to develop your team and group, recruiting philosophy, some great stories about our staff and more! Coach E has mentored 6 All-Americans, 8 NCAA Qualifiers, and over 70 conference champions. In his first two years as a head coach, Emanuel has won 2 OVC Championships. He has been honored with the OVC Coach of the Year award in 2019 and 2020. In 2018, he was named the Midwest Regional Assistant Coach of the Year by the USTFCCCA. This was another really fun interview for me. Coach E hired me on staff at EIU and has been an awesome mentor. On top of being one of the best sprints coaches around, he has done a fantastic job setting the culture for our team, mentoring a young staff, and winning instantly. The interview will provide some great insight to the dynamic of our staff and team as a whole. Enjoy! Ep. 2: Andrew Ninow - University of Washington Throws

On Episode 2 of the EIU Throws Podcast I got the chance to hangout with one of the best coaches in the country, Andrew Ninow. Coach Ninow is currently the throws coach at the University of Washington. Topics included recruiting, how to build relationships with your athletes, developing your throwers efficiently while achieving long-term growth, good stories, and a ton more! Coach Ninow has mentored 14 First Team All-Americans, 1 Olympian, 3 NCAA Runners-Up, with numerous conference champions in the Pac-12 and SEC in just a decade’s time. He has coached an athlete to the NCAA Championships in every event, indoor and outdoor. In 2014, he was named the Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year award by the USTFCCCA. This was a super fun interview for me. Coach Ninow was my college coach for 3 years, and has had an immense impact on my life as a person, a thrower, and now as a coach. He is an awesome story-teller, full of knowledge, and shared a lot of great information during our talk. Enjoy!
