Por lo general, al paciente parapléjico se le hacen evaluaciones para determinar cómo puede alcanzar su autonomía física. Es muy importante que el paciente sepa qué es la paraplejia y esté informado de su condición particular. Como futuros profesionales sanitarios, no solo debemos informar sobre los cambios físicos y fisiológicos, sino que debemos ayudarles en el nuevo camino que debe recorrer, fomentando el afrontamiento eficaz, la competencia y la resiliencia de la persona.
