„en dialogues avec ...“ Heute im Gespräch mit: Claudia Giani-Leber, Direktorin der Galerie Arte Gani in Frankfurt am Main Unser Thema u.a.: ZÜNDSTOFF: “SCHADET MR. TRUMP’S ZOLLPOLITIK NUN AUCH DEM INTERNATIONAL AGIERENDEN KUNSTMARKT?“ Zum Einstieg ein kurzer Diskurs: Galerien für Gegenwartskunst sind spätestens seit den 1950er Jahren bis heute Experimentierzellen für Künstler:innen und damit Seismographen für gesellschaftliche Prozesse. Der neutral weiße Ausstellungsraum will längst mehr sein und ist mehr als nur ein Verkaufsraum für Objekte und Bilder. Was aber motiviert Galerist:innen derzeit, was treibt sie an und welche Art von Kunst fasziniert sie? Ich treffe mich mit Galeristin Dr. Claudia Giani-Leber in ihrem Büro im Frankfurter mainBuilding. Die aktuelle Ausstellung der Galerie Art Giani zeigt bis 6. Juni 2025 Arbeiten von Irene Hardjanegara. Über die besondere Technik sowie Wirkung von Hardjanegaras Bilder spreche ich ausführlich mit der Galeristin. Doch nicht nur über die Künstler:innen der Galerie, zugleich auch über die Funktion des Galerieraumes als Gegenpol zu einer virtuellen Lebenswelt sprechen wir und über die junge Generation potenzieller Kunstsammler:innen. In Anbetracht der gerade veröffentlichten Zahlen, stellt sich zudem die beunruhigende Frage: steckt der Kunstmarkt in einer länger andauernden Krise? Ein kürzlich gemeinsam von der Kunstmesse Basel und der Schweizer Bank UBS veröffentlichter Bericht geht von einem Umsatzrückgang von 12 Prozent im Vorjahr auf dem weltweiten Kunstmarkt aus. Ich frage die erfahrene Galeristin Giani-Leber nach ihrer Einschätzung: Könnten Trumps angekündigten Zölle und das ständige Auf und Ab an den Börsen den Kunstmarkt in diesem Jahr zusätzlich belasten?
