<p><strong>Hi! I'm Mariah and welcome to my mind. </strong></p> <p><br></p> <p>Today I felt like using my voice to speak up about a book I read in school.</p> <p>It is called <strong>The Hate U Give</strong>, by Angie Thomas. According to its summary, sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. </p> <p>In this episode, I'll be talking about some of the discussions I had in class, while addressing important themes, such as police brutality, living in two different worlds, racism, and social/economic inequality. </p> <p>Stream the pilot now, and get the chance to experience my satirical late night show: White People Problems.
