Episode 7: Wiz Kelly-From Hooping to Musical Artist, Making Art For Yourself, and Experimental Creativity
<p>In this episode, Ant and I got the chance to sit down with a good friend of ours, Tariq Latchison, also known as Wiz Kelly. Tariq as Wiz Kelly has released 5 projects, including Wiz Kelly Vol. 1 Nowhere and Yaphet Kotto (which he and his dad co-created). Oh..and his dad, Khalid Salaam, has musical talent too—playing seven different instruments and rapping himself. So, in this conversation with Wiz Kelly, we get into his upbringing with his parents, the transition from spending a lot of his time hooping—as he played basketball in high school—to now making full albums, creating for yourself vs. creating for others, the side of being an artist that many don’t see, and so much more.
