Podcast Overview

For nearly a decade, I found myself in what I thought was a relationship but turned out to be a ‘situationship’—a confusing, unfulfilling space with someone who wasn’t ready for the depth I was seeking. At the same time, I found myself entangled in a similar pattern with my job of two decades. My work became my whole world, claiming to be my ‘family’ because I spent so much time there. But, over time, I realized that this job was just as dysfunctional as the family dynamics I thought I’d escaped.

All of this built up over two years, leading me to a breaking point that forced me to take a step back and focus on healing through intensive therapy. When I finally chose to end that ‘situationship,’ I marked it by bringing a new kitten into my life, a symbol of new beginnings. Now, I’m in the process of closing the chapter on my ‘relationship’ with my employer, too, recognizing that I deserve a truly supportive environment.

A major part of this journey has been grappling with my own reflection. I look so much like my father, and that resemblance has made it hard for me to look in the mirror or at photos of myself, carrying years of self-doubt. But just five months after ending things with the man who couldn’t give me the love I needed, I found what I believe is real love—or at the very least, the respect and care I’ve always deserved—with a man who shows up for me wholeheartedly.

This journey has been about learning to let myself be loved and, even more importantly, learning to love myself. I’m excited to share more of that journey with you here.
