Podcast Overview

Fifty-Five Fragments - A Collection of Poems by Joan Tong, first published in 1989.

"These very assorted poems span a period of more than thirty years. There are long time gaps between many of them, because it has been at some of the most meaningful periods of my life that I have felt a need to express feelings with words in this way. They are very simple and fundamental, and do not aspire to be anything else.

Life is a growing, changing journey, and leaves so many impressions on us as we move on. Perhaps the person "we" are today is quite different from the one "we" were in the past, or could yet become.

I have tried to sort these 'fragments' into different categories, and I beg your kind indulgence in perusing them. I can only say that they were truly "me" at the times they were written.

In fact, I really believe they wrote themselves!

Finally, they are for all those I love.

Copyright Joan Tong, 1989

Recording copyright Flying Monk Community Projects CIC 2025

All rights reserved

Hosted on Acast.
