<p>Join Batman and Stephen as they talk to Sensei Oisin Burke head of the European branch of Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu Muden Juku.</p> <p><em>Aiki</em> is a mysterious and often misunderstood aspect of traditional Japanese martial arts. Sometimes teachers claim to have Aiki but who can tell? Sensei Burke trained in Japan for several years under Iida Hiroo Shihan who himself was a student of famed Kodo Horikawa, a longtime student of Takeda Sokaku the founder of modern Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu. This unbroken lineage offers Sensei Burke valuable insight into the inner aspects of this Art. </p> <p>For anyone interested in training in Dublin with Sensei Burke there will be a seminar held in South Dublin on the Sat 27th and Sunday 28th April 2024. It is open to everyone over the age of 18 (You can try Daito Ryu when you are 70!) <p>Gina Konstantopoulos is an Assistant Professor in Assyriology and Cuneiform Studies in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures at UCLA. Her research centres on religion, magic, and literature in Mesopotamia, with a particular focus on the role of demons and monsters in Sumerian and Akkadian texts.</p> <p>Gina also holds the rank of Sandan (3rd Dan) in ZNKR Jodo and Iaido. </p> <p>In this episode, Gina talks about how in Mesopotamia; being possessed and being sick are indistinguishable from each other. </p>
