Talking about divorce

This week I (Heather) am talking about divorce, and I continue my journey with forgiveness. Kaelin wasn't able to record this week. She and I are very close, but the one thing we have never discussed is my divorce of her father. So, this is part one and next week we will get her perspective on how divorce affected her as a child. I'm not going to lie, I am a little nervous to hear what she has to say.... Stay tuned

Introduction

The path to adulthood has always been confusing, even before 2020. Transitioning from child to adult is something every person struggles with. Most of the personality, the core of who you are is established by the time you are 8. No one will have a bigger impact on the blueprint of you than your birth family, especially your mother. That is where the mother wound comes in. The best way to think of the mother wound is a loss or a lack of mothering. This is typically a deficit in the mother-daughter or mother-son relationships that is passed down through generations. Moms are human, too. Even the best relationships suffer from unintentional trauma inflicted in childhood. Healing the mother wound means going back and examining those things in childhood that hurt us so we can let them go and move into the light of our being.

No other story typifies this struggle better than the story of Demeter and Persephone. Persephone needed to find herself, and in doing so, was lost to her mother, Demeter. Demeter, grieving the loss of her beloved daughter, became lost, herself in searching for a way back to Persephone. So it is with Heather and Kaelin. In this podcast, mother and daughter, Heather and Kaelin, respectively, talk honestly about their experiences in childhood, the mother wound, epigenetics, and self-healing. As Demeter and Persephone come together to bring springtime to the sleeping winter world, so Heather and Kaelin hope to encourage healing so they can pour love and light into themselves, each other, their family, and the world.
