Podcast Overview

The Great Financial Crisis didn't just happen one day. It was a financial catastrophe that cascaded through the economy like an avalanche. And like an avalanche, the triggering conditions built up over time, and could be seen by anyone who knew what to look for. Unlike an avalanche, this disaster was caused by the greed, ignorance, recklessness, and carelessness of people working in the financial industry, and the normal, everyday people just trying to buy a home and live their lives. In this podcast, I will look into the past to highlight events from 20 years in the past, walking through headlines and news and assessing it with the benefit of hindsight. As a guide and inspiration, I will frequently look to The Big Short by Michael Lewis and reporting by journalists at the time.
