Tackling the Dual Pandemic of HIV/AIDS and Covid-19

For our inaugural episode and for this year's Pride Month, we are talking with Dr. Terri Finkley, FUSE Executive Fellow working with the City of Atlanta as they navigate the dual effects of an HIV/AIDS epidemic and the Covid-19 pandemic. In Atlanta, HIV/AIDS has infected one of every 51 Atlanta residents, making it an urgent public health crisis that has existed long before Covid-19. Of the Atlantans affected by HIV/AIDS, 66% are Black - stressing the fact that racism is a public health issue and demonstrating the intersections between race and health among the LGBTQ+ community. Listen as Dr. Finkley speaks to the racial inequalities, barriers to healthcare, and opportunities for change.
