About GSMC Classics: Against The Storm

Step back in time to the golden age of radio drama with GSMC Classics: Against the Storm, a captivating rebroadcast of the iconic radio series that captivated audiences during the tumultuous era of the 1940s. Presented in collaboration with Dr. Pepper's 10-2-4 Ranch, this podcast transports listeners to an era where storytelling reigned supreme and imagination knew no bounds. Against the Storm, created by the visionary Sandra Michael and supported by William Ramsey of Procter & Gamble, emerged as a beacon of innovation and social commentary amidst the chaos of World War II. Beginning its broadcast on the historic day of Great Britain's declaration of war on Germany, Against the Storm was more than just a soap opera – it was a platform for intelligent discourse and thought-provoking narratives. Join us as we delve into the lives of Professor Jason McKinley Allen, his family, and friends in the quaint town of Hawthorne, Connecticut, at Deep Pool Farm. Against the backdrop of war and societal upheaval, Against the Storm offered a nuanced portrayal of domestic life, tackling issues of morality, patriotism, and the human condition. Sandra Michael's unwavering commitment to challenging stereotypes shines through in every episode, presenting housewives as intelligent and capable individuals navigating the complexities of life during wartime. Against the Storm defied the conventions of traditional soap operas, offering audiences a refreshing blend of drama, intrigue, and social relevance. As we revisit each episode of Against the Storm, listeners are invited to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of storytelling that defined a generation. From the halls of Harper University to the idyllic landscapes of Deep Pool Farm, the characters of Against the Storm come to life once more, resonating with timeless themes that continue to hold relevance today.
