Sam Stewart is a consummate composer and musician. He's known for working with brands like Ferrari and the NFL and has made a name for himself for his ability to sonically brand companies. Sam shares tips on what to think about when you're creating a sonic brand, who needs a sonic brand, and what kind of people should be involved in the process.
3 Pieces of Gum from Sam:
1. Sonic Brands are for everyone. If you have an online media presence, you also have a sonic brand. You could be a twitch streamer, you could be a international beverage company, it doesn't matter. It's worth considering what you want your sonic brand to do for you.
2. Sonic Brands play an extremely important role in the psychological and emotional perception of your brand. How an audience feels about your brand is directly related to how they interpret the sounds they associate with your brand.
3. Sonic Branding is an iterative process. Developing sonic branding involves an iterative process, starting with understanding what doesn't work and gradually refining the sound based on feedback and collaboration. This process can include experimenting with different genres and sounds until the right fit is found. Avoid the temptation to just grab a sound off the shelf and really work to find something that works for you.
