<p>Welcome to HairTalks, the podcast where we celebrate and delve deep into the diverse experiences and stories of black women and their hair. I&#39;m your host, Doctor K, and I&#39;m honoured to have you join us as we embark on this journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and enlightenment.</p> <p><br>On HairTalks, we&#39;re fostering a transparent space for black women of all backgrounds, including researchers, academics, scientists, naturalistas, relaxed ladies, and pretty much anyone else you can think of, to have candid conversations about our hair and health. This space is dedicated to celebrating the beauty and complexity of black hair while also diving into the science of how our hair choices affect our health and vice versa so we can be more informed in the choices that we do make.<br></p> <p>Each episode will feature intimate one-on-one conversations where our guests can comfortably share their personal hair stories, their expertise, and their experiences with different hair care practices. We&#39;ll explore the nuances of natural hair, relaxed hair, protective styles, and everything in between. We&#39;ll also discuss the effects of toxic ingredients found in hair products and how they impact our bodies.</p> <p><br>In addition to these one-on-one conversations, we&#39;ll eventually introduce round table discussions, bringing together a diverse group of women who offer unique perspectives on specific topics surrounding hair. These round table episodes will give us an opportunity to hear different opinions while maintaining our culture of empathy and acceptance for all women who share, regardless of where they are on their hair and health journey.<br></p> <p>But HairTalks is more than just a podcast. It&#39;s a platform for education and empowerment for black women as we navigate managing our hair and health and a resource for you to have to make your transition to a healthier, holistic lifestyle significantly easier. We want to challenge the status quo, debunk hair myths, and bring you the hair science in a way that makes sense to you. We aim to inspire everyone who is listening to embrace their own hair journeys, no matter where they may lead and to give you this place of refuge to come to, away from the challenges and biases that we often encounter. </p> <p><br>So, whether you&#39;re a seasoned naturalista, a relaxed lady, or simply curious about the world of black hair, HairTalks is here to provide you with informative and thought-provoking conversations.
