The crisp autumn air carried the scent of pumpkin spice and fallen leaves as Detective Sarah Blackwood pulled up to the old Holloway mansion. It was Halloween night, and the sprawling Victorian house loomed ominously against the darkening sky. Sarah had been called to investigate a most unusual crime – the disappearance of the town's beloved Halloween decorations.<br /><br />As she approached the front door, Sarah couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss. The porch was adorned with cobwebs and flickering jack-o'-lanterns, but the usual bustle of trick-or-treaters was eerily absent. She rang the doorbell, which chimed an unsettling melody throughout the house.<br /><br />The door creaked open, revealing Mrs. Holloway, a silver-haired woman with piercing green eyes. "Detective Blackwood, I presume?" she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Please, come in. We have much to discuss."<br /><br />Sarah followed Mrs. Holloway into the dimly lit foyer, where portraits of long-dead relatives seemed to watch their every move. But then, more elaborate decorations began to vanish – animatronic witches, life-sized skeletons, even entire haunted house setups."<br /><br />As Mrs. Holloway recounted the bizarre occurrences, Sarah's mind raced with possibilities. Who would want to steal Halloween decorations? And more importantly, how were they managing to do it without being seen?<br /><br />"Has anyone reported seeing anything suspicious?" Sarah asked, jotting down notes in her leather-bound notebook.<br /><br />Mrs. Holloway shook her head. "That's the strangest part, detective. No one has seen or heard a thing. With a deep breath, she turned the doorknob and pushed the door open, revealing a sight that left both her and Mrs. Holloway speechless.<br /><br />The attic was filled to the brim with Halloween decorations – not just from the Holloway mansion, but from all over town. Plastic pumpkins, ghostly apparitions, and even a full-sized animatronic Frankenstein's monster were crammed into every available space.<br /><br />As Sarah's eyes adjusted to the dim light, she caught sight of movement in the corner.
