Amir Mathis of Mathis Family Matters (E!)

Black Excellence or rather all around Excellence has a new show, Mathis Family Matters that airs Sunday nights on E!. Amir Mathis, who’s not just one of the Executive Producers and Co-Stars of the reality show but he’s one of the catalysts behind the show’s very existence joins me for our inaugural episode of Hollywood In The Black. Amir shares what it’s like being the youngest child of the beloved though tough Detroit native, Judge Mathis and we discuss his and his partner’s multi-year journey from a cubicle at Steve Harvey (the show) to setting up the highly positive and often times funny reality show. And easy it wasn’t, he had everyone in his large family sign agreements before even shopping the show. And Amir has some crucial advice for those eager to have a career in Hollywood. Amir Mathis is our first Guest on Hollywood In The Black.

Prologue: Executive Producer

Black is the new black in Hollywood. There's a significant demand for Black programming so who's telling these stories? Who's paying for this programming and why is it in such demand? Which companies are cashing in on “diversity” and which companies are not? This show explores the deals, talent, series, motivations, shows and movies that casino Hollywood is betting on. But before we get into the details this brief Prologue explains who I am, Andre Jetmir, Executive Producer. RIP Robert Evans the great.
