<p>Dat lijkt sinds enkele jaren wel dé HSP-vraag van 1 miljoen.</p> <p>Vooraleer ik jullie een onderbouwd antwoord geef, neem ik jullie mee naar 2016. In dat jaar publiceerde de Belgische Prof. Dr. Elke Van Hoof haar nieuwste boek: <strong>“Hoogsensitief”,</strong> een gedegen en wetenschappelijk onderbouwd naslagwerk over HSP.</p> <p>In dit boek vermeldt Prof. Van Hoof dat hoogsensitiviteit NIET hetzelfde is dan hooggevoeligheid. Ze onderstreept dat hooggevoeligheid een emotionele reactie is (overemotioneel zijn) en dus niets te maken heeft met de “échte” term hoogsensitiviteit. HSP’s kunnen wel overemotioneel zijn (bijvoorbeeld bij overprikkeling), maar dat is, zoals jullie wellicht al lang weten, niet de kern van de eigenschap.</p> <p>Maar intussen bleef het boeken, blogs en artikels regenen over het thema HSP, weliswaar vaak onder de benaming hooggevoeligheid, vooral dan in Nederland. De discussie ontaarde steeds vaker in een taaldispuut. Hoog tijd dus om klaarheid te scheppen!</p> <p>Dat ontging ook de Nederlandse Kerngroep HSP Professionals niet. Deze Kerngroep werd in 2017 opgericht met als doel een bijdragen te leveren aan meer waardering en (h)erkenning van hoogsensitiviteit. Ook hun leden wilden dringend een halt toegroepen aan een te grote diversiteit aan begrippen en termen rond dit thema en plaatsten dit onderwerp als prioritair op de agenda. Samen met professor Elke Van Hoof, kwamen ze in februari 2018 unaniem tot een standpunt.
