How Long to Boil
Welcome to our first introductory episode of the podcast, where we'll cover tricks and nuances about cooking times for various foods. This is the audio version of our blog https://how-long-to-boil.com/ , which is famous for its useful information about the cooking times of various foods. In this episode, we will share with you the general points and basic principles of cooking vegetables that will help you become a true master of cooking. We'll talk about the importance of proper cooking time and how it affects the flavor and texture of your food, and in the next episodes we'll go deeper and talk about cooking each of the foods in more detail. Let's start with red potatoes, one of the most popular vegetables. Cooking whole potatoes in a pressure cooker or on the stovetop in a pot usually takes about 20-40 minutes. If you're cooking potato wedges or cubes, the time may be a little less, about 10-15 minutes for small pieces, and 20 minutes for larger ones. Check the readiness of the potatoes by piercing them with a fork - it should go in easily. Let's move on to the carrots. Cooking carrots is fairly simple, but remember that their size affects the cooking time. Small carrots cook for about 5 minutes, while larger carrots should cook for about 7 minutes. If you prefer a softer texture, increase the cooking time a little more. The carrots should be tender but still hold their shape. Next in line will be the cauliflower. The cooking time for cauliflower depends on your preference for how soft the vegetable is. Here are a few guidelines. If you prefer cauliflower with a crunchy texture, cooking for 5-7 minutes will be sufficient. The cauliflower should remain slightly tough to the touch and retain its bright color. Such cauliflower is perfect for salads or adding to other dishes. To use cauliflower in soup or for baby food, increase the cooking time to 10 minutes. Let's finish this episode with an explanation of how to cook green beans. Fresh beans should be cooked for 5 minutes, frozen beans - 6 minutes from the moment the water boils. You can also vary the cooking time depending on your flavor preference. Some people prefer crunchier beans, while others like a softer texture. We hope this episode has helped you better understand what cooking times certain foods need in order to achieve their best flavor.
