I AM the earth - catalan - Spain
The I AM project has been created to reveal the beauty of any language across the globe and the beauty of nature, too. The objective of this initiative is to protect endangered languages for the next generations. The I AM project reminds us that human beings and nature are connected and cannot be separated. The I AM project is the voice of the forests, the oceans, species, the earth and the sky. Any participant can be part of the initiative by recording their voice, reading the words of the elements of the environment. The audio files are stored and published on the official website. The I AM initiative is a cultural project. Protecting languages is a duty of memory. WORLD HERITAGE The general consensus is that there are between 6,000 and 7,000 languages currently spoken and that between 50% and 90% of them will have become extinct by the year 2100. The 20 most common languages, each with more than 50 million speakers, are spoken by 50% of the world’s population, but most languages are spoken by fewer than 10,000 people. An endangered language or moribund language is a language that is at risk of disappearing as its speakers die out or shift to speaking other languages. The catalan language : Catalan, known in the Valencian Community (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valencian_Community) and Carche (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carche) as Valencian (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valencian), is a Western Romance language (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Romance_languages) derived from Vulgar Latin (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vulgar_Latin). It is the official language of Andorra (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andorra), and a co-official language of three autonomous communities (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autonomous_communities_of_Spain) in eastern Spain (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spain): Catalonia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalonia), the Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balearic_Islands). It also has semi-official status in the Italian (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italy) comune (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comune) of Alghero (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alghero). It is also spoken in the Pyrénées-Orientales (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyr%C3%A9n%C3%A9es-Orientales) department of France (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/France) and in two further areas in eastern Spain: the eastern strip (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Franja) of Aragon (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aragon) and the Carche area in the Region of Murcia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Region_of_Murcia). The Catalan/Valencian-speaking territories are often called the Països Catalans (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalan_Countries) or "Catalan Countries". The language evolved from Vulgar Latin in the Middle Ages around the eastern Pyrenees (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyrenees). Nineteenth-century Spain saw a Catalan literary revival (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renaixen%C3%A7a), culminating in the early 1900s.
