Covid-19: An Online Discussion

<p>The coronavirus has given rise to a lot of discussion within religious communities. Join us live for Iqra Online's first panel discussion with seminary students and scholars shedding light on some pertinent issues.</p> <p>What do Islamic sources have to say about epidemics? How did scholars and Muslim communities of the past deal with disease outbreaks? What does Islam say about dealing with physical diseases - how do we reconcile between reciting supplications and taking physical precaution? Finally, what is the role of scholars during this crisis and the responsibility of the laity?<br> <br> Panelists:</p> <p>Sayyid Ali is finishing his 8th year of studies in Qom. He is currently doing a Masters in Islamic Philosophy and as well as attending advance classes in Fiqh and Usul. He is also the founder of Iqra Online.</p> <p>Syed Hadi started his hawzah studies in the UK alongside his bachelor’s degree in 2007. From 2009-2017 he moved abroad to continue his hawzah studies in Qom, Iran. On his return to the UK, he joined Hawza Ilmiyya of England as a lecturer for 2 years and has recently relocated to the USA.</p> <p>Saiyid Hasan obtained a BA in Political Science from Rutgers University in NJ, USA. Thereafter, he began his hawzah studies first at the Imam Ali Seminary in Orlando, FL from 2010-2012 and then continued in Qum from 2014-2020. His subjects of interest include Islamic Philosophy, Mysticism, Spiritual Psychology, Education, and Parenting.</p> <p>Sadiq Meghje is in his 5th year of studies in Qom, currently finishing his Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Fiqh, Usul and Philosophy.</p>
