5 Steps an IT manager should do every day for maximum productivity

[00:00:00] Mujab: [00:00:00] Hello. Welcome to I T Officer's podcast. My name is

[00:00:05] this is the podcast for helping it professionals to grow their career and lead them with a happier and fulfilling life.

[00:00:14]let me ask you this. Are you happy and fulfilled when you go back to your home every day? Or is it the same and not so special day? If your answer is the second one. You find your days are overwhelming. You're exhausted feeling lost. And you don't know what you were doing on that day. You are not alone.

[00:00:33]

[00:00:33]I can completely relate this. It is so true that during my first eight years in Dubai working as an it admin, I was doing so much and, I had no choice to relax. Stupid with my new kids on those days. After having so much done on that day. when I return to home, I was expecting a phone call from my boss or the owner of the business that [00:01:00] they're, wireless or Blackberry or laptop was not working.

[00:01:04] So I had to drive all the way from Sharjah to Myra. Again, from home. Just to identify that. the router or firewall or the violence devices is turned off or unplugged. And most of the time when I am reaching the home. It was, 10 o'clock by the time. And next day it is the same routine.

[00:01:30] So if this is your life now, I would say, if you will end up in trouble very soon. So I decided to identify what I'm doing on that day, which I needed to stop it immediately. To take my life back in control.

[00:01:48]In this episode, I am sharing my five steps, which I was doing for maximizing my productivity and. spending my time very effectively.

[00:01:58]Step one.

[00:02:01] [00:02:00] Step one was to sit down on a Friday morning and list all my day activities. waking from, starting from waking up until I sleep. So once I wrote on all the necessary steps, I caught some pattern, which was following throughout the day. And this was an eyeopening for me. And it revealed a point that if I break this habit pattern,

[00:02:30] I can. Focus more on the other productivity task. And stop being attacked by reactive support calls.

[00:02:40] The word. Here it is being proactive.

[00:02:44]so in my case, the pattern was lifting my mobile. At the time when I was waking up first thing in the morning. So it was, I think, Blackberry. Immediately checking the emails.

[00:02:58] So that means I lost [00:03:00] my brain. To get controller. By the emails. that. When you read something first thing in the morning that will really affect your whole day.

[00:03:12]And most of this email was yelling at me. saying, about some issues, some troubles, some. UN, finished the reports as. and So guess what you start your day with the. Looking at the troubles and challenges. If this is the case, how you be happy finishing your day. The brain already gone to a different CMO, right?

[00:03:37] So what I have done, I decided to stop. Checking the email. Until I reach office. That was a brave. And. Initially it was. picked up and during this one, Veeck of continuous trial. I managed to make it. On my favor.

[00:03:58]

[00:03:58]No the second step. [00:04:00] I noticed my first fire was. Are the most energetic time. Starting waking up from 6:00 AM until 11 o'clock in the morning. I can be more energetic and more focused. So I should do something very important. Task. On that timeframe. So I started planning the day in the first one hour, immediately after waking up.

[00:04:26] And. It is in the paper. So I listed the most important task too. Finish on that day. When I am. The most energetic and focused.

[00:04:39] So this was super helpful. I know, that. You have a given return signal to your brains? to think creatively
