Podcast Overview

"Three and a half years ago, I protected a USB flash drive worth of data of an Ojibwe man I met in Minneapolis during my poem book writing. I preserved his drive on my blog, art, his story, and legal documents. It was a slow grind to build up enough resources on my part to return to his story. We are planning an organized sustained campaign of content creation to tell his side of the story. He sent me this brutal body camera video from a police officer tasing him. Unarmed, with a poor bicyle just trying to get home. This time his story will be told, well. I've spend six years slowly building a credibility to tell it, independently, with my story too. We have solidarity and want to see better times come to this earth. He dreams of making a living making cannabis products and Native American grown treatments for trauma from plants harvested on their ancestral lands. Not only pursing a path to legitimacy for himself, making something out of the land his tribe (Ojibwe) has treaty rights to. We are going to not let this story get swiped under the rug. The violence on Native Americans stops here."
