<p>隨著工業科技的進步，我們日常使用的食品及個人清潔保養用品 (Personal care products, PCP）都存在許多人造的化學物質。碰巧的是，這些人工合成的化學物結構，長得和身體自己分泌的荷爾蒙很相像。而當這些來自環境中的”仿冒傳令兵”出現在人體內，便有很大的機會欺騙身體器官的收發室(「荷爾蒙接受器」(Estrogen receptors))，進而傳遞錯誤的指令造成器官功能的異常。因此，我們把這些仿冒傳令兵稱之為「環境荷爾蒙(Xenoestrogen)」或又名為「內分泌干擾物質 (Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals，EDCs)」</p>
