George Herbert Mead: El interaccionismo simbólico.
¿Los seres humanos tenemos instintos? ¿Por qué pensamos? ¿podemos pensar sin lenguaje? ¿Ian es capaz de meter la lengua en un enchufe? preguntas básicas alrededor del Interaccionismo Simbólico o conductismo social (así llamado en su momento). George Herbert Mead pasó desapercibido ante la notoriedad de John Dewey. A pesar de tener la capacidad de cubrir el hueco que Dewey había dejado tras su partida de la Escuela de Chicago, institución referente de la ciencia social Norteamericana del momento, prefirió nunca escribir un solo libro de su pensamiento teórico. Fue hasta su muerte, y gracias a sus estudiantes (incluyendo a Herbert Blumer), que se hizo posible lo que a él nunca le interesó: escribir "Mind, Self and Society", obra que expresa sus planteamientos en torno al Interaccionismo Simbólico.
