<p>Sinds juli 2020 geeft Graffiti vzw maandelijks een jonge kunstenaar de mogelijkheid om zijn of haar boodschap creatief en tijdelijk te vereeuwigen op Le Mur Gent, een openluchtmuseum op de zijgevel van BarBroos, op de oude beestenmarkt. Met veel zomerse terrassen en kuiermarktjes. Zo sloopt een fysieke muur, maand na maand, de spreekwoordelijke barrière tussen straatkunst en haar toeschouwers.</p><p>In deze reeks nodigen we de artiesten uit op de podcastzolder van Graffiti vzw en gaan we dieper in op een centraal thema.</p>

<p>Aan de andere kant van de oceaan, meer bepaald in New South Wales in Australië, startte op 8 februari een <span>campagne op: het ontstaan van de ‘Graffiti Removal Day’.</span></p><p><span>Om die dag te vieren zullen ze murals maken. Daar is een storm van reactie op gekomen. Geen Graffiti Removal Day zonder murals, dus ook geen Graffiti Removal Day zonder straatkunstenaar.</span></p><p><span>Straatkunstenaar Sid Tapia werkte mee aan de campagne en werd het mikpunt van haatberichten. Het verwijderen van graffiti door opsmukking is in the scene de grootste bullshit en pure zelfverloochening. Een grote paradox natuurlijk, waarbij illegale graffiti bekeken wordt als iets vuils.
