Bruno Zevi girava sempre con un piccolo numero di dardi nella sua tasca destra. D’improvviso ne tirava fuori uno e lo usava per colpire l’avversario di turno. Vuoi un bolso architetto accademico, uno studente tronfio ma ignorante, un collega burocratico. Ma questi dardi servivano anche per fare dei centri memorabili. per cogliere la sostanza delle questioni. (Spero che non mi prendiate alla lettera, in ogni caso se ve ne prendevate uno di questi dardi anche se virtuali vi assicuro che ve lo ricordavate). Un albergo bellissimo come potete vedere e di cui vi presentiamo oggi le foto per tante ragioni. Innanzitutto per dare linfa ai nuovi designer di oggi perché da questa opera c’è molto da imparare. E poi perché una rivista serve a ricordare e forse un poco a vendicare. Infatti questo opera è stata brutalmente distrutta. Il suo architetto si chiama Giorgio Romoli. E’ stato per trent’anni e più professore alla facoltà di architettura a Sapienza e negli anni Novanta docente della nostra scuola a Maputo in Mozambico. Il suo amore per i luoghi lontani lo ha portato oggi nel lontano Perù (eh si, la terra di origine di Paul Gauguin) dove è ben attivo come progettista critico e docente. font-size: large;">Sempre cruciale in un albergo è il piano terra che deve essere ampio, accogliente, elegante, il più aperto possibile. Ma allo stesso tempo nel piano terra confluiscono i discendenti dei bagni. E’ un conflitto che ogni progettista deve affrontare. Di norma i discendenti vengono deviati nel contro soffitto con la cura nel mantenere la necessaria inclinazione oppure accostati ai pilastri. L’Hotel era stato costruito a fine ottocento - si chiama allora Hotel Oriente - aveva pilastri in muratura molto spessi. Romoli risolve il dato funzionale con un controsoffitto in legno organizzato su una maglia ‘scozzese’. Si tratta di un particolare ritmo proporzionale (progettisti di oggi, ricordatevene). Stabilite le prime due misure, la terza è la somma delle due precedenti, la quarta la somma della seconda e della terza e così via. Stabilite quindi le X e le Y degli elementi scatolari, si procede a dare le misure delle altezze, le Z, valutando le situazioni spaziali: piccole misure al centro degli ambienti, più lunghe mano a mano che ci avvicina ai pilastri, “lunghe quasi fino a terra, come fossero stalattiti e fino a terra per ricoprire pilastri e i vari discendenti.”. Y no creo que sea necesario recordar los nombres de una tradición que comienza con la figura de Gio Ponti y el más joven, y decididamente más racionalista, Franco Albini en los años treinta del siglo XX y continúa con vigor durante toda la posguerra, con su cúspide en los años sesenta y setenta con figuras como Ettore Sottsass, Tobia Scarpa, Achille y Piergiacomo Castiglioni, Joe Colombo.</span></i></p><p style="font-family: Calibri; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px 0px 0px 35.5px; min-height: 14px; text-align: justify;"><i><span style="font-size: medium;"><b></b><br /></span></i></p><p style="font-family: Calibri; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px 0px 0px 35.5px; min-height: 14px; text-align: justify;"><i><span style="font-size: medium;"><b></b><br /></span></i></p><p style="font-family: Calibri; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px 0px 0px 35.5px; text-align: justify;"><i><span style="font-size: medium;">Esta es la razòn por la cual la expresión de uno de los grandes maestros y críticos de la arquitectura italiana que estoy por informarles, resulta de especial interés.</span></i></p><p style="font-family: Calibri; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px 0px 0px 35.5px; text-align: justify;"><i><span style="font-size: medium;">Bruno Zevi, siempre andaba con una pequeña cantidad de dardos en el bolsillo derecho. Al improviso sacaba uno y lo usaba para golpear al adversario de turno, sea un flojo arquitecto académico, un estudiante pomposo pero ignorante o un colega burocrático. Pero estos dardos también servìan para hacer centros memorables, para captar la esencia de los problemas. (Espero que no tomen lo que digo al pie de la letra, en cualquier caso si ustedes hubiesen sido golpeados por uno de estos dardos, aunque virtuales, les aseguro que lo recordarìan). Un hotel precioso como pueden ver y del que hoy les presentamos las fotos por muchas razones. En primer lugar, para dar vida a los nuevos diseñadores de hoy, porque hay mucho que aprender de esta obra. Y luego, porque una revista sirve para recordar y quizás un poco para vengarse. De hecho, esta obra fue brutalmente destruìda. Su arquitecto se llama Giorgio Romoli. Fue durante treinta años o más profesor en la Facultad de Arquitectura de la Sapienza y en los noventa, Docente de nuestra Facultad de Maputo en Mozambique. Y su amor por los lugares lejanos lo ha llevado al Perú (sí, la tierra de origen de Paul Gauguin) donde es muy activo como proyectista, crítico y docente. </span></i></p><p style="font-family: Calibri; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px 0px 0px 35.5px; text-align: justify;"><i><span style="font-size: medium;">Si les va, escríbanle a: giorgioromoli@yahoo.it. Pero al mismo tiempo confluyen en la planta baja las tuberìas de los baños. Es un conflicto que todo diseñador debe afrontar. Normalmente las tuberìas vienen desviadas dentro el falso techo, cuidando en mantener la inclinación necesaria y la cercanìa a las columnas. El hotel fue construido a finales del siglo XIX -se llamaba Hotel Oriente- tenía columnas de muros muy gruesos. Romoli resuelve el dato funcional con un falso techo de madera organizado sobre una malla 'escocesa'. Se trata de un ritmo proporcional particular (diseñadores de hoy, tòmenlo en cuenta!). Una vez establecidas las dos primeras medidas, la tercera es la suma de las dos anteriores, la cuarta la suma de la segunda y la tercera y así sucesivamente. </span></i></p><p style="font-family: Calibri; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px 0px 0px 35.5px; text-align: justify;"><i><span style="font-size: medium;">Una vez establecidas las X e Y de los elementos en forma de caja, procedemos a dar las medidas de las alturas, la Z, evaluando las situaciones espaciales: pequeñas medidas en el centro de las habitaciones, más largas a medida que nos acercamos a las columnas, “largos casi hasta el suelo, como si fueran estalactitas, para cubrir los pilares y las diversas tuberìas". Esta magia de proporciones, determina la particular armonía de los ambientes y al mismo tiempo resuelve los datos funcionales.</span></i></p><p style="font-family: Calibri; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px 0px 0px 35.5px; min-height: 13px; text-align: justify;"><i><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></i></p><p style="font-family: Calibri; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px 0px 0px 35.5px; text-align: justify;"><i><span style="font-size: medium;">La textura escocesa también permite atornillar al techo los elementos de iluminación y los otros elementos de madera que hacen vibrar el espacio.
