The Milestone We Never Wanted: 1,000 Days on the Edge - ZoomCast

Milestones in a war are arbitrary, cruel things. They don’t mark victories; they merely tally endurance. We just crossed 1,000 days. One thousand days of a multi-front war of attrition, of incoming sirens, of a horizon permanently altered by smoke and anxiety. [If the video above isn't viewable]: For the last few years, Adele and I have used our weekly and monthly ZoomCasts (https://davebender.substack.com/s/zoom-and-podcasts) to beam the unvarnished reality of Israel’s border communities out to anyone willing to look. No corporate media filters. No sanitized government talking points. Just the friction of daily survival. But this milestone hit differently. The questions we forced ourselves to confront weren’t about strategy or geopolitics. They were intimate, sharp, and uncomfortable. How much can a person absorb before the foundation cracks? When does resilience mutate into simple exhaustion? The truth is, the toll isn’t just measured in broken buildings or evacuated towns. It’s measured in the quiet, cumulative burnout of the people trying to document it. Speaking into the void week after week takes a piece of you. Here are a few characteristic quotes that capture the core of that 1,000-day conversation: Adele: “Survival isn’t just about ducking for cover anymore; it has turned into this long, grinding struggle against absolute burnout. We want to rebuild, but you have to face the fact that resilience isn’t some infinite resource.” Dave: “There’s a constant internal friction between trying to document this disaster as a journalist and actually living it as a security volunteer. When the macro-reality gets this heavy, you have to pull back and focus on what’s right in front of you just to keep your foundation from cracking.” Miri: ”Are people coming back to Safed? Not necessarily. Some are sitting on their suitcases, and some say they’re coming back but haven’t made a move. I see the data directly through the [Tzfat English Library (https://www.geigerlibrary.org) where both Miri and Dave volunteer] registrations—the Anglo community just isn’t rushing back yet.””The kibbutz movement has been soliciting heavily, even busing young families up toward Kiryat Shmona and Tel Hai to try and sell the potential of the north. But after the latest round of escalation, even the young couples who took the tours are electing not to do it. They are doing everything they can to make it appealing, but the reality on the ground makes it a hard sell.” Living on the edge forces a hyper-focus on what is immediate and real. When the macro-reality becomes too heavy, the micro-reality is what saves you. For me, that sanity is found in the physical, grounding weight of the everyday: checking the hives at Neshika, spending quiet hours with Miri, navigating the subtle shifts in the landscape through a camera lens, and focusing on family. It isn’t a retreat; it’s a tactical withdrawal to preserve what matters. We moved from weekly to monthly broadcasts. Not because the story is over—far from it—but because to keep telling it truthfully, we have to survive it first. The war rolls into day 1,001+. We are still here. We are just changing how we fight the fatigue. [A note from the field: this post may be updated or amended as events develop. Warm and Pieces: Tactical Leftovers on the Israeli Homefront @NeshikhaKitchen - Cuisine

There’s an idea out there, that, at a certain age, one should settle into more predictable rhythms—taking up birdwatching, perhaps, or perfecting the art of the indignant letter to the editor. Yet, between the demands of the hives and the persistent background hum of life in a conflict zone, we’ve found our latest adventures in the kitchen, performing tactical maneuvers with whatever happens to be in the fridge. Call it a “Foodie Fight.” (Sorry...) In our house, the “holiday panic” described by glossy American magazines isn’t a seasonal event; it’s a standard Friday afternoon. Whether we are hacking a slab off a “Great Pumpkin” at the local greengrocer with a machete to make Pumpkin Pull-Apart Rolls (enriched with honey water from our own Neshikha hives, ‘natch), or debating the artistic merits of a clementine peel “still life” over a November Shabbat lunch, the conversation is always—as our coming podcast (https://open.substack.com/pub/davebender/p/shelaborate-and-mansplain-tell-all) suggests—a mix of “shelaborating” and “mansplaining.” Yeah, ok, I went there - but, hey - I can explain! (…kiiiiding). And so, our latest foray into high-concept/low-budget gastronomy involved a salvage operation: the Wiener Wellington (https://youtu.be/9-Q_rrWhJok?si=rTNAIZAMsQkUGSwi). This was a creative upcycling of Yom Ha’atzmaut Independence Day leftovers and luncheon meats that had no business being pressed into service (...there I go again) in a puff-pastry lattice: In our latest “After-Action Review,” about that video, the critique was rigorous [00:26 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBeluGQFnpA&t=26)]. We looked past the humble origins of the ingredients to focus on the essential moisture provided by the mushroom duxelles and the necessary elevation of the mustard sauce [03:05 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBeluGQFnpA&t=185)]. The verdict? A solid 8 out of 10—a respectable showing for a dish born of necessity and a bit of kitchen whimsy [03:24 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBeluGQFnpA&t=204)]. Some couples travel the world or carp at the nightly news; we find our “white rabbits”—those hidden jokes and mysteries—planted in the pigments of a savory roll or the crust of a hot dog lattice. In a world that is anything but quiet, making a respectable mess in the kitchen remains our preferred method of staying sane. After all, even in a war zone, the pastry - and not our minds - should be flaky, the homefront honey should be local (http://neshikha.com), and the wit - like our ridiculously greal local wines - should remain exceptionally dry.The Takeaway: It’s “fancy deli roll” territory, but it’s ours. Now, having successfully defended the kitchen against the tyranny of boring leftovers, we find ourselves dangerously un-preoccupied. We have the knives, we have the lighting, and we have a frankly alarming amount of honey. What we need is a target. We’re asking you to act as our culinary scouts: drop a comment below and tell us what culinary target we should attack next.Whether it’s a complex local heirloom recipe that requires three days and a specialized clay pot, an international classic we have no business attempting, or the latest “stupid-but-brilliant” TikTok trend that we can adapt for a kosher kitchen—lay it on us. We’re ready to risk our dignity (and our appliances) for your entertainment and our Shabbat post-repast bliss. The “After-Action” Files: Watch: The Wiener Wellington Verdict (https://youtu.be/oBeluGQFnpA) – The final taste-test and structural analysis. Watch: Closing the Holiday Panic Gap (https://open.substack.com/pub/davebender/p/lens-and-land-closing-the-holiday) – Pumpkin rolls and Galilee “machete” shopping. The Royal Treatment for a Humble Hot Dog

The Royal Treatment for a Humble Hot Dog Description: What happens when the leftovers of Independence Day meet the creative foodie ambitions of Beekeeper Miri? We’re taking a detour from our usual dispatches to master the "Weiner Wellington." True creativity often thrives on what’s left behind. This week, we’re pivoting to a bit of culinary "upcycling" in the @NeshikaKitchen. It’s fun, it’s out of the box, and it proves that even a hot dog deserves a puff pastry pedestal. Lens & Land: Going Off Script... 😂 But Srsly, Folks

My tiny broadcast empire covers everything, including the absurd parts - like this quick animated dispatch from Israel, where reporting, photography, and curiosity all collide. While I've got your attention… Imagine we're grabbing a couple of beers across the table here in Tzfat — just you and me, kicking back and shooting the breeze about where Lens & Land heads next. I've been mulling this over, and honestly, I want your take before I do anything rash. You know how it is with these newsletters — they start as a passion project, dishing out those on-the-ground dispatches from Israel that cut through the noise. But now I'm wondering: how do we make it even better? More sustainable? Something you'd actually look forward to every week, maybe even chip in for if it hits the right notes? So, spill it — what do you want more of? Grab that beer and tell me straight: What's your favorite part of the newsletter so far? The quick hits from the field? The deeper dives? The photos that make you feel like you're right here? Short and punchy updates, or longer rambles where I unpack what's really going on? More behind-the-scenes stuff — like how a story comes together, or the stuff that doesn't make the headlines? Q&As where I tackle your questions? Live chats where we just hash it out? Any topics screaming for more airtime... or ones I'm beating to death that you could live without? One sentence, a paragraph, whatever — just hit reply. I'm buying the next round if you do. The paid thing — let's talk real Look, I'm not here to hard-sell you. But yeah, I've been thinking about a paid layer, not to lock everything away, but to unlock the good stuff for folks who want it. Picture this: * Free stays free — the best dispatches, notes, and previews to keep things open and shareable. * A chill Supporter tier at $5/month or $50/year gets you all the paid posts and archives, no fuss. * Insider at $12/month or $120/year adds bonus notes, my raw takes, and those Q&As we were just talking about. * And for the real die-hards, Patron at $25/month or $250/year throws in quarterly live chats or video hangs — you ask, I answer, beer in hand (virtually). But here's the deal: I only build this if it's stuff you actually want. No guessing games. What makes it worth it? Paid shouldn't just mean "more words." It should feel like pulling up a chair — deeper reporting, "what I'm hearing" whispers, photo stories with the full backstory, or just me making sense of the chaos in real time. Ever paid for a newsletter before? What hooked you? The insider vibe? The reliability? That feeling of being in the loop? Your call This is your newsletter too, in a way. Tell me what'd make Lens & Land something you'd crack open every time — free or paid. More fire from the border? Smarter takes on the media circus? Whatever's buzzing in your head. Hit reply, drop a comment, or just nod along. Beers on me either way. What's next? Thanks for reading Lens & Land: Dispatches from Israel ! Spring Cleaning on Steroids (With a Side of Rockets) Video: Reporter's Notebook

As Israel prepares for Passover under fire, the distance between the northern border and Lebanon’s Litani River defines the difference between security and a holiday in a bomb shelter. YouTube version if the inset video above isn’t working. This clip was recorded on Thursday morning. The air in Tzfat this week is a thick slurry of matzah dust, mud from cleaning, and military diesel from the war around us. We are hours away from the Seder, and the duality of life in Northern Israel has never felt more “surreal,” as I noted in my latest video dispatch above. The Frontline RealityThe cost of our relative quiet has been steep. We mourn the recent loss of four IDF soldiers killed in Southern Lebanon while fighting to push Hezbollah terrorists back toward the Litani River. For those of us living on the border, that river—located roughly 18 miles (29 km) north of the Blue Line—isn’t just a geographic feature; it is the strategic boundary required for our families to remain at home, in relative safely. The Home Front: “Spring Cleaning on Steroids”Back in the cobblestone alleys of the Old City, the holiday preparations continue unabated. It is spring cleaning on steroids, though tempered by a persistent “static” in the sky. While we scrub for chametz, explosive drones and rocket fire continue to target all of us.In a moment of dark irony that only makes sense in the Galilee, I finally received our new Tripadvisor window stickers for Neshikha. It took eight months to arrive—a small, bittersweet milestone of normalcy arriving in the middle of a war zone.A Warning for TravelersFor those driving through the region, a word of caution: Highway 90, the artery running along the eastern spine of the country, is currently designated as an “open area” by the army. This means parts of the road lack the protective umbrella of the Iron Dome, which is geosynced primarily to defend populated centers. If you are driving north of Hatzor toward the finger of the Galilee, you are essentially in an exposed zone.Stay Connected Despite the sirens, we aren’t stopping. We are still here, still cleaning, and still shipping the “sweetness” of the land to supporters around the world.Support our Artisanal Honey: Browse our local Galilee products at the Neshikha Shop (http://neshikha.com/shop). We continue to ship internationally, even now.Subscribe for More: For deeper analysis and visual dispatches from the front, subscribe to Lens & Land: Dispatches from Israel.Wishing you all a quiet, kosher, and meaningful Passover.Dave out. Six Hundred Rockets and a Deadly Direct Hit in Nahariya - Video Update

The brutal reality on the ground here today moved faster than the keystrokes can follow. Since my video yesterday morning, the "seven strikes" have been buried under a barrage that hasn't relented. I stood face-to-face recently with an IDF individual who hadn't slept in over twenty-four hours. They had been assisting three helos medivac sorties thread South Lebanon's narrow ravines to pull wounded IDF troops out of a lethal close-quarters firefight with Hezbollah's Radwan terrorists. One of those soldiers didn't make it. The IDF has since cleared for publication the names of Staff Sgt. Ori Greenberg, 21, of the Golani Brigade’s Reconnaissance Unit, and Lt. Aviad Elchanan Volansky, 21, of the 7th Armored Brigade, who both fell in that overnight exchange. But while we were speaking, the day was already escalating. It is now long after midnight, and the initial count of seven rocket attacks has been eclipsed. Hezbollah has fired hundreds of times today alone. The most recent—and most visceral—is the direct missile strike on an apartment building in Nahariya. Uri Peretz, 43, was killed in that rocket salvo, and about 15 others were wounded and a building gutted by fire. This isn't "collateral damage." Throughout the day, and since the beginning of the war with Iran and it's proxy, we have seen the deliberate use of explosive UAVs, one-ton missiles, and cluster munitions—the latter weaponry designed to saturate and kill indiscriminately—aimed squarely at civilian centers. By any definition of international law, this is a double Geneva Conventions war crime. The contrast is what stays with you. In any other country, this level of relentless, targeted trauma would shatter the social fabric. Yet here, the civic resilience—as fragile, hammered, and endlessly tested as it is—remains. Recent Strike Data (as of 5:00 PM IST, Thurs. Mar. 26th) * Nahariya: Direct missile hit on a residential apartment building. 1 fatality (approx. 30 years old), 3 injured (one in serious condition). * Kafr Qasim / Central Israel: Multiple impacts involving cluster munitions (confirmed by local authorities). 6 injuries reported. * Tel Aviv Area: Shrapnel impacts from Iranian ballistic missile interceptions; 3 lightly wounded. * Haifa: Shrapnel hits at the Technion campus; damage reported to buildings. * Southern Lebanon Border: * Staff Sgt. Ori Greenberg (21) killed in action. * Lt. Aviad Elchanan Volansky (21) killed in action. The Tally of Attacks * Total Launches: Over 600 projectiles (rockets, missiles, and drones) were launched at Israel on Thursday by Hezbollah and Iran. * Morning Window: At least 7 distinct heavy barrages were recorded before noon, targeting the Galilee, Haifa, and the Gush Dan (Tel Aviv) metro area. * Weaponry: Confirmed use of ballistic missiles and cluster munitions intentionally directed at civilian population centers in central and northern Israel. Rules of the Neighborhood: The Persian Principle of 'Sabr' - Video Analysis

TL;DR: While Western leaders view military superiority as a path to the negotiating table, Iranian leadership views the act of negotiating under pressure as a terminal loss of face—prioritizing symbolic "standing firm" over the preservation of physical military assets. The Iranian regime is willing to absorb significant tactical losses (the destruction of its air force, navy, and leadership) while maintaining its strategic posture, betting that their ability to endure suffering will outlast the West's desire for a quick, logical resolution. "Hello friends, I want to address the Iranian 'drip-feeding' [of fire] and the 'neighborhood' logic during these days of war. Let’s see what is happening here. Two days ago, Trump says: 'Wait, we can talk.' What are they [the West] saying? Trump says: 'We can reach an agreement, after all, we won.' The Iranians are looking at him and saying: 'What do you mean, you won?' You know—and you know it well—they don’t want to talk. They say, 'We have suffered damage, and we aren’t ready to hear from you at all.' Wait, what happened here? This is an Iran whose entire army, its air force, and everything has been hit. Its senior officials have been eliminated, and everyone in the world—and Israel—is attacking them with such practical and significant force. And yet? That is the 'game in the neighborhood.' It is purely a matter of sabr (patience). Even though we are being hit, even though we are suffering, even though we are being humiliated—we are the ones who will stand firm. What is the West saying? 'Listen, you lost. Come to the table.' But in the Middle East, if you come to the table because you lost, you have lost your honor—and if you've lost your honor, you have lost everything. Therefore, they continue to fire, and they will continue to fire. Why? Because the goal is not to win the 'point' or the 'round.' The goal is to survive the pressure. This is the gap between the American 'Deal' and the Middle Eastern 'Survival.'" Translation Notes: "Drip-feeding" (Tiftuf): This is a specific Israeli military/media term used to describe intermittent, persistent rocket fire intended to disrupt daily life and wear down the "nerves" of the civilian population over a long period. "The Neighborhood" (Ha-Sh'chuna): Yeheskeli uses this as a shorthand for the Middle Eastern geopolitical arena, implying it operates on tribal and honor-based rules rather than Western diplomatic norms. "Survival" (Hisardut): In this context, he isn't just talking about staying alive, but about the regime's ability to maintain its "stance" (Waqf) without appearing to break under Western or Israeli pressure. Analysis of the "Yeheskeli" Perspective Yeheskeli is known for his "Arabist" lens, often critiquing Western diplomacy for being "naïve" to regional nuances. In this clip, his core argument rests on two pillars: Honor over Assets: To the Iranian leadership, the physical destruction of their Air Force is less damaging than the symbolic humiliation of begging for a ceasefire. The Sabr Principle: He uses the Arabic word Sabr (صبر), which translates to a specific type of revolutionary patience. It implies that the one who can endure suffering the longest is the ultimate victor, regardless of the body count or economic cost. Background: His undercover work—most notably in his series The Arab Spring (https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLTB2Mg_qhTZc9UnBnelpW2GSn8_u5ftvO&si=2iXBM4EOG9v7Mxnw) and Allahu Akbar—revealed how Islamist movements often utilize Western democratic systems to advance their own theological and political agendas. By moving through mosques and community centers in the US and Europe with hidden cameras, he demonstrated that the "neighborhood rules" he mentions in the video aren't just confined to the geography of Iran or Lebanon; they are exported ideologies. The Significance of His "Undercover" Insight When Yeheskeli translates the Iranian mindset in this clip, he is drawing on that specific experience of hearing what is said behind closed doors versus what is said to Western media: Linguistic Duality: Being a native speaker allows him to catch the shift from "diplomatic speak" used for the UN to the "mobilization speak" used for the domestic and regional audience. The "Trojan Horse" Concept: His work in Europe centered on the idea that Westerners mistake quiet for compliance. He argues that a group can be militarily decimated (as he describes Iran’s Air Force here) but still claim victory if their ideological core remains intact. The Disconnect: His undercover findings often suggest that Western leaders look for "moderate" signals where there are none. In the video, when he mocks the idea of "reaching an agreement" because "we won," he is channeling the frustration of an analyst who has seen firsthand that for these groups, compromise is often viewed as a temporary tactical pause (Hudna) rather than a genuine peace. Behind the Pings: Managing Tzfat’s Digital Lifeline Under Fire - ZoomCast

Roaring Lions and Digital Lifelines It’s Sunday morning in Tzfat, and the air here is heavy with more than just the mountain mist. After a predawn and early morning barrage of rockets across the north—and indeed, many parts of the country—the "Roaring Lions" (or "Epic Fury," if you prefer the more cinematic nomenclature) of this conflict continue to make their presence felt. Between the Home Front Command alerts and the staccato of incoming fire, there is a parallel rhythm: the constant chime of our smartphones. For those of us living on the border, information isn't just a convenience; it’s a form of armor. This evening, for our monthly Life on the Border ZoomCast (https://www.facebook.com/groups/LifeontheBorder/), we’re going behind the screens to look at how that armor is forged and distributed in real-time. The 24/7 Watch I’m pleased to welcome a special guest who knows the weight of this responsibility intimately: Shayna Rehberg-Paquin. Shayna is a pillar of the Anglo community here in Tzfat and serves as my co-admin on the Tzfat Anglo Community WhatsApp hub. While much of the city sleeps (or tries to), Shayna and I are on call 24/7. Our mission is simple but high-stakes: translating and disseminating critical municipal and emergency alerts to ensure our English-speaking residents aren't left in a vacuum when seconds count. Tonight’s Discussion We’ll be joined by my regular co-host, Adele Raemer, to discuss: The Burden of the Admin: What it’s like to hold the "digital megaphone" during a red alert. Community Cohesion: How regular folks in the Galilee are navigating life under fire. Operational Nuance: The technical and cultural challenges of bridging the gap between Hebrew authorities and the Anglo diaspora living in the line of fire. Join Us Tonight Sunday, March 1st, 2026 Israel: 7:00 PM UK: 5:00 PM US (EST): 12:00 PM Note: The Zoom link will be posted right here on this page later today. Keep your notifications on and your protected spaces close. Stay safe, stay informed, and we’ll see you at the top of the hour. This is a public episode. October Echoes: Hamas’ Grim Return, Hezbollah’s Youth Army, and Rising Tensions - Video News Update

In today’s update: * Hamas hands over more body parts of a previously returned hostage — not one of the 13 still in Gaza. * Hezbollah’s reorganization in southern Lebanon and shocking footage of 74,000 youth pledging allegiance to assasinated terror chieftain, Hassan Nasrallah with raised-arm Nazi salutes. * A thwarted attempt by a Gazan terror aquad to recreate an October 7th–style attack on two border kibbutzim, on the very day the surviving 20 hostages were released back into Israel - October 13th. * 🎙️ Subscribe for daily on-the-ground reporting and analysis from Israel.3 pm Update: added in the IDF surveillance footage in comments for those who (still) somehow doubt the deranged abusive event. Noon Update: the remains are those of Ofir Sarfaty RIP, whose remains were recovered two years ago, in December of 2023, officials said. The family of Ofir Sarfaty: "Ofir attended the Nova Festival to celebrate his birthday with his partner Shoval and close friends. The birthday celebration was brutally cut short when Ofir was abducted into captivity, where he was murdered. Ofir's body was recovered at the end of November 2023 and brought to burial in Israel. "In March 2024, additional remains of Ofir were returned for burial in Israel. Furthermore, in August of that year, Hamas published a photograph of Ofir's body. "We went to sleep last night with anticipation and hope that another family would close an agonizing two-year circle and bring their loved one home for burial. But once again, deception has been inflicted upon our family as we try to heal. This morning we were shown video footage of our beloved son's remains being removed, buried, and handed over to the Red Cross - an abhorrent manipulation designed to sabotage the deal and abandon the effort to bring all the hostages home. "This is the third time we have been forced to open Ofir's grave and rebury our son. The circle supposedly 'closed' back in December 2023, but it never truly closes. Since then, we have lived with a wound that constantly reopens, between memory and longing, between bereavement and mission. "Our Ofir went to Nova to celebrate his birthday and never returned. We ask all the people of Israel not to forget the fallen, not to forget the hostages, and to continue supporting the families until their return and beyond -only then will we have a future. Only then can we continue to live in our country." From the Prime Minister's Office: "This is a clear violation of the agreement by the Hamas terror organization. Prime Minister Netanyahu will hold a security discussion with the heads of the defense establishment, in which they will discuss Israel's steps in the face of the violations." In plain (yes, and bitter) words - Hamas is literally doling out bits and pieces in order to drag out the process and buy time. ➡️ What reportedly happened (based on eyewitness soldiers in the field): 1️⃣ Yesterday afternoon, an IDF drone spotted Hamas operatives using a tractor to dig a pit in the Shuja’iyya area. 2️⃣ The operatives then retrieved a body from a nearby building, placed it in the pit, and reburied it under fresh soil. 3️⃣ Afterward, Hamas called in representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and staged the “discovery” — filming themselves digging up the same body they had just buried minutes earlier. Yes, that horrendous. [Why, why yes - yes, this indeed IS my surprised face - how could you tell? And, yes, I trust the veracity of his report. And, yes, the Trump time limit for handing over the bodies of the fallen hostages has long passed, and yes, IMHO, Hamas and Qatar are playing all of us as chumps] 🔵 *Hamas Caught Staging Hostage Body “Discovery” for the Red Cross — IDF Drone Footage Reportedly Documents the Scene* According to IDF reservists stationed near the “Yellow Line” in Gaza City’s Shuja’iyya neighborhood, Hamas operatives were filmed faking the discovery of an Israeli hostage’s body before handing it over to the Red Cross last night. “On the day our hostages arrived home - Oct. 13th, the IDF captured a terror squad prepared to invade Israel. The squad was near Kibbutz Sa’ad - no more than 0.8 mile from the border. The IDF forces found in a mosque huge amounts of weapons and a small model of the kibbutz. The terrorists also had a map of neighboring Kibbutz Alumim, where 22 foreign workers were murdered and two taken hostage, and four Israeli security personnel were killed in fighting on Oct. 7th, 2023.” Can you imagine the Oct 7th-like catastrophe that would've occured on the same day we were rejoicing over the return of the remaining 20 living hostages exactly two years later - if not for the IDF successfully nabbing the would-be Gazan terrorists en route to their horrific mission? I recall this report, but it was covered as a minor news update during the hoopla over the event - possibly so as not to disclose intel details or derail the release, or even possibly not to embarrass the US Administration. First publication in the morning news on Galei Tzahal Army radio: An unusual incident that has not been revealed so far: On the Sabbath of the living abductees to Israel - the IDF captured a squad of Hamas terrorists who crossed the Yellow Line; during their interrogation - the terrorists led the forces to a mosque that served as Hamas headquarters with a large amount of weapons The incident occurred on the eve of Simchat Torah, the Sabbath of the living abductees to Israel about two weeks ago. A number of Hamas operatives crossed the Yellow Line in the area of the Shajaiya neighborhood, and arrived about a kilometer from the border fence opposite Nahal Oz. An IDF UAV identified They were followed, and he led forces from the 11th Reserve Brigade to arrest them - and they were captured unarmed. During their initial interrogation in the field, the terrorists led the force to a mosque that served as a Hamas headquarters and training compound - which they had planned to reach. Weapons that the terrorists had hidden there were seized in the mosque - powerful charges and RPG missiles. In addition, intelligence materials were found, indicating that the place served as the headquarters of a battalion of the Shajaiyah in the military wing of Hamas, from which terrorist acts were supposed to emanate. A model of a kibbutz in the Gaza enclave was also seized at the site. The captured terrorists were transferred for interrogation in Israeli territory. The IDF has so far refrained from making this incident public for reasons that are unclear." Source: Doron Kadosh a GL''Z Army radio reporter. And, meanwhile, to our north, a missed opportunity for close target grouping (...and that stiff-armed salute - where have I seen that before? I'm drawing a blank - anybody?): "🇱🇧 𝗛𝗲𝘇𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵: Al-Mahdi Scouts. "It is estimated that 74,000 Hezbollah youths have attended the event in stadium. It is one of the largest scout gatherings in the history. "Most adolescents join Hezbollah and its military activities after the age of 16. The youth movement takes its members to meet terrorist operatives, visit weapons repositories, and join combat workshops that train them to be Shahids (martyrs). "October 13, 2025, the AhlulBayt News Agency published an article about this event. This is the Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium in Beirut, Lebanon. The event, named “The Sayyed's Generations,” was a scouting festival that commemorated the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Imam Mahdi Scouts, Hezbollah's official scouting arm. It was also held in honor of Hezbollah's former Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah, following his death. "According to reports, more than 70,000 to 74,000 participants attended the rally, which has been described as one of the largest scouting gatherings in the world. The stadium's field featured a large banner with a portrait of Hassan Nasrallah. "The event included speeches, musical performances, and chants of allegiance to Nasrallah and the resistance. #scouts #jihad #wosm #badenpowell And, meanwhile, to our north, a missed opportunity for close target grouping (...and that stiff-armed salute - where have I seen that before?
