【第38回】旅先で気持ちが落ち込んだときは
前回に続いて、旅行中のメンタルコンディションの話を。 数日間の旅行では感じている暇もないことですが、 ある程度の長丁場になってくると、 好きで行ってる旅行の間も、 つらいとき、しんどいときがあるものです。 地元の人たちとの軋轢で疲れるときもありますが、 特にこれといった理由もなく、 なんとなく元気が出ないときもある。 そういうときは外出する気も起こらず、 宿の部屋にこもってしまったりします。 まあ立てこもってるうちに、 特にこれといったきっかけもなく、 なんとなく回復していくものではあるのですが、 それでも努めて外出するようにした方が、 回復も早いような気がします。 いずれにせよ、 気分が沈んで、回復する、 このサイクルを旅先で体感するというのも趣深く、 また旅先での自身の成長が感じられるものです。

【第36回】旅行者が街に馴染んでいるかどうかの見分け方
2019年、久しぶりに訪れたインドをふりかえってのお話です。 バンコク経由でパキスタンのラホールに降りて、 陸路でインド入りした、短くも印象深い旅行でした。 インドは実に12年半ぶりだったのですが、 あー昔と変わってないなーと思わされたのは、 向こうから近づいてくるインド人のアプローチ術です。 近頃はYouTubeなんかでも、 「話しかけてくるインド人、うざい、詐欺、カオス」みたいなのを表看板に出した旅行動画が掃いて捨てるほどありますが、 こうして寄ってくる現地の面々には、 ただ煩わされるだけでなく、 私たちの持っていないものを彼らから学び取るくらいの 度量をもった旅行者になりたいものです。 このとき私が滞在したのはニューデリーのメインバザールで、 旅行者にじゃんじゃん声がかかる土地柄ですが、 そんなところというのは、 広大なインドの中ではごくごく限られた地区だけだ ということも付け加えておきます。
