Criminalizing Homelessness Is Not a Housing Policy: The Cicero Institute's Agenda for Arkansas
Where exactly are people supposed to go when we make it illegal to be homeless but give them nowhere else to live? I had a really informative conversation today with Quinn Emmett, Executive Director of the Northwest Arkansas Continuum of Care, about the Cicero Institute, the well-funded think tank pushing legislation like this around the country. We also talked about how homelessness services are funded, why even our best existing programs are so under-resourced, and what happens when governments make it increasingly difficult to be homeless without providing anywhere for people to go. I really encourage you to listen to this conversation, especially if you live in Arkansas, because we need more people paying attention to what’s being proposed before it becomes law.
