The Next Generation Is Entering Construction. Are Our Jobsites Ready?
The construction industry is working hard to bring the next generation into the workforce. But recruiting new workers is only part of the challenge. Once they enter the industry, the experience waiting for them can shape whether they learn, grow, and see construction as a long term career. In this month's Industry Insights, we look at how contractors and industry organizations are introducing young people to construction, creating opportunities for generations to learn from one another, and using training, communication, and technology to support workforce development beyond orientation.

Supervisor Safety Communication Matters: Why General Contractors Need a Direct Connection to Workers
Supervisor communication plays a critical role in construction safety, but on large, complex projects, it cannot be the only way important information reaches the workforce. When communication has to move from project leadership to trade leadership, then to supervisors and finally to workers, information can be delayed, interpreted differently, or lose detail along the way. In this month's Industry Insights, we spoke with construction leaders about how general contractors can strengthen jobsite communication by creating a direct connection to workers while continuing to support the essential role supervisors play in the field.

Construction Is Hiring. Here's How Leading Contractors Are Keeping New Workers Safe and Informed.
Nonresidential construction continues to drive hiring across the industry, adding more than 113,000 jobs over the past year according to the Associated General Contractors of America. As more workers arrive on active jobsites, safety leaders face a familiar challenge: helping every new hire become productive, informed, and connected from day one. From Air Horns to Instant Alerts: How Skanska Modernized Jobsite Communication
Construction has a communication problem, and the industry has the numbers to prove it.
Poor communication is estimated to cost the U.S. construction industry billions of dollars each year through rework, delays, and preventable inefficiencies. We're sharing a new MindForge blog that explores how Skanska tackled this challenge on a 52-acre healthcare project with more than 700 workers on site every day.
Because on today's large projects, communication isn't breaking down because people aren't trying. It's breaking down because the systems many teams still rely on weren't built for the scale, speed, and complexity of modern construction.
The teams finding success aren't simply communicating more.
They're building systems that allow critical information to reach workers directly, instantly, and in the language they understand.

Stop Managing. Start Leading. The real reason your software rollout is failing, and what to do about it.
Most software rollouts in construction don’t fail because of the technology.
They fail because teams are asked to change before they understand why the change matters.
We’re sharing a new MindForge blog that explores one of the biggest challenges construction leaders face during implementation: getting real adoption in the field.
Because successful rollouts aren’t built on training schedules or go-live dates alone.
They’re built on trust, communication, and whether crews believe the new system will actually make their day easier.

"All In Together" Only Works If Your Crew Can Actually Tell You What They See
Construction Safety Week brings focus to hazard awareness, training, and prevention.
But one critical factor often goes unaddressed: whether workers feel safe speaking up about what they see in the field.
Even in structured safety conversations, crews identify less than half of the hazards they actually face. The gap isn’t just about recognition. It’s about whether concerns are shared in the first place.
When workers hold back:
Risks go unreportedField conditions drift from the planSmall issues escalate into larger incidents
At the core of this challenge is psychological safety. When workers don’t believe their input will be heard, respected, or acted on, they stop speaking up.
The question is no longer whether communication gaps exist. It is whether teams are creating environments where the truth is consistently shared before something goes wrong.

The Language Barrier Impacting Jobsite Communication: Is It Time for Contractors to Make a Change?
This blog highlights a growing gap between the fast changing nature of construction work and the outdated ways critical information is communicated on jobsites. As a significant portion of the workforce is Spanish speaking, the lack of consistent, real time communication in workers’ native language creates serious challenges. Current solutions like ad hoc translation or disconnected documents are unreliable and fail to keep up with evolving conditions, ultimately increasing the risk of misunderstandings that can impact safety, efficiency, and overall project outcomes.

Closing the Communication Gaps Around High-Risk Activities on Data Center Projects
Huddles are essential, but they’re not enough on a 2,000-person data-center project. In this episode, we unpack how high-risk activities (like crane picks, hot work, energized tie-ins, and critical lifts) should be communicated so everyone on site, not just the performing crew, stays in the know. You’ll hear a practical playbook: huddle at the workface and then broadcast site-wide; use a three-touch alert cadence (T-10 heads-up, go-time, all-clear); build redundancy with alerts + radio + signage; and keep messages consistent, multilingual, and easy to acknowledge. The goal: fewer near-misses, faster “all clear,” and safer, smoother days on mega-jobs.
