I became an expert at abusing my trauma. I hated it, fought it, tied it up, taped its mouth, bag over its head, and threw it in the closet so I wouldn’t have to listen to it scream.
Then Jesus told me: “If you want to be healed, you have to stop abusing it. You have to friend it.”
That shit hurts. How do you talk to something that reminds you of something so terrible you want to take yourself out?
But when I abuse my trauma, I’m abusing myself. That trauma is me — frozen in time.
Healing is messy as shit. It’s the hardest thing you’ll ever do.
Some will say “That’s a sermon? You’re swearing!” Yeah, it’s a fucking sermon. Because pain hurts. I speak the language of the victim because I was one.
God’s not scared of blood on His hands. He’s the ER doctor who will let you bleed so He can heal you.
God sees you. God knows you. God is for you.

Why I Don’t Preach Against Sin As An Apostle
