Het grote verschil tussen pleegzorg en adoptie is dat ouders, indien mogelijk, een actieve rol blijven hebben in het leven van een kind. Maar wat wil dat precies zeggen: bezoekrecht? In 2021 verbleven er 8643 pleegkinderen en pleeggasten in Vlaanderen in een pleeggezin. Maar dat wil niet altijd zeggen dat de persoon in kwestie uit een zorgwekkende thuissituatie komt. Hoe komt een kind in pleegzorg terecht? Wat is het verschil tussen een vrijwillige plaatsing en een plaatsing door de jeugdrechtbank? En welke dossiers krijgt een jeugdrechter allemaal te zien?
