Sisu (Budaya kegagalan orang Finlandia)
Sisu merupakan kombinasi dari istilah bahasa inggris, yakni determinasi, ketangguhan pada tujuan, ketabahan, keberanian, resiliensi dan kengototan. Konsep sisu ini bahkan dianggap sebagai karakter nasional. Ada sebuah adagium yang dipercayai orang-orang Finlandia, "To be real finn, you must have will power, tenacity, and persistency". Anda belum disebut sebagai orang Finlandia jika anda belum pernah gagal, bangkit lagi, gagal, bangkit lagi dan seterusnya. Pentingnya ketangguhan bagi Finlandia juga tercermin dalam tanggal 13 Oktober tiap tahunnya. Mereka merayakan Hari Kegagalan Nasional(National Failure Day) sebagai hari besar nasional. Bagi orang-orang Finlandia, kegagalan merupakan sebuah peristiwa yang patut untuk dirayakan. Masyarakat setempat menyadari bahwa setiap kegagalan mengajarkan kebijaksanaan yang membuat mereka lebih kuat. Budaya untuk bersahabat dengan kegagalan membuat mereka tidak merasa takut untuk mengeksplorasi potensi terbaiknya. Dengan menciptakan Hari Kegagalan Nasional, hakikatnya Finlandia telah menciptakan mekanisme resiliensi, bukan hanya pada level individual, tetapi juga dalam tataran kebangsaan. Hal ini adalah sebuah potret ekosistem yang amat kondusif. Situasi seperti inilah yang kita butuhkan dalam upaya meningkatkan sumber daya yang kompetitif di masa depan. Selama ini kita cenderung terjebak dalam lingkungan yang tidak mentolerir kegagalan. Situasi ini kerap membuat anak didik kita terkungkung dalam situasi yang penuh tekanan.
