Podcast Overview

Panenka Podcast was formed by a group of friends who spent far too much talking about football. There’s about 8 of us with a few amateur football journalists and a few armchair pundits. A nice balance. We also spent a lot of time complaining about the “old boys club” of football punditry that dominates mainstream media coverage. So, with that in mind, we offer something a bit younger and a bit different. We always analyse and probe – we never narrate! More importantly, we always dedicate one segment to exploring how football connects with features of our societies and histories. Because, as the old boys do say, football is more than just a game.

In this first episode Nick is joined by Hamzah, Will, and Emilio "The Regista" Risoli to discuss Chris Wilder and Sheffield United, Atalanta in Serie A, and whether Kepa really is a bad goalkeeper. Then, in this weeks "The bigger pitch", Hamzah discusses the left-wing roots of Liverpool the city and how its two football clubs weave into that history. It's a good 'un.
