movie reviews nobody asked for
Co-hosts Lia and Alex discuss some of cinema's greatest (and worst) hits, with a mix of opinions, fun facts, and hilarity.
In this episode, we dive into Promising Young Woman (2020), Emerald Fennell’s sharp, unsettling, and darkly funny thriller about revenge, accountability, and the brutal realities women face every day. We break down Cassie’s carefully laid plans, the movie’s devastating twists, and why its mix of anger, style, and black comedy hits so hard.
We also talk about the standout performances from Carey Mulligan, Bo Burnham, Alison Brie, Laverne Cox, Jennifer Coolidge, and more, plus the film’s gorgeous cinematography and iconic soundtrack.
Along the way, we unpack the film’s message, debate its ending, and get very, very mad at a lot of men. If you loved the movie—or have strong opinions about it—this one’s for you.
