The Isaiah Project - Tears Our Lord Will Wipe Away

Isaiah 25:8-9 King James Version 8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it. 9 And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation. Intro: This passage is part of a prophecy concerning the Millennium. It concerns that period of time when Jesus Christ is reigning upon the earth in glory and power. It is a message of hope and promise to the Jews. Yet, as I read this verse, I am reminded of a parallel passage in Rev. 21:4. That verse is not a prophecy to the Jews, but it is a promise to all of God’s children. Notice what that great verse says, “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” I don’t know about you, but I like the thought of Jesus wiping all of our tears away!

The Isaiah Project: Christmas Yet to Come (In September)

Isaiah 9:6-7 CHRISTMAS YET TO COME 6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Intro: Ill. Some years ago, as gifts were being exchanged, a certain family member told Mikey that his gift, a bag of gourmet candy corn had been ordered but had not arrived. As soon as it got here, it would be given to him. That bag of candy corn has never appeared, and I don’t think it ever will. In 1981 the Canadian government instituted a new system of postal delivery. It was supposed to be more streamlined, efficient and quicker. Yet, when Christmas came and went last year, the Canadian post offices were filled with Christmas packages that had yet to be delivered. Hopefully, they eventually found their way to their intended destination. Now, we all know that Christmas is far more than giving and receiving. Now what are we doing talking about Christmas at summer’s end? Because for Christians every day is bout Christmas! Even though we allow ourselves to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of Christmas, we all understand something of the true meaning of Christmas. • We know that Jesus was God in human flesh. • We know that when Jesus was born in Bethlehem, God stepped out of eternity and entered time. • We know that Jesus was a great teacher, healer, and miracle worker. • We know that Jesus came to the earth to die for our sins on the cross. • We know that He rose again from the dead and ascended back to heaven to make intercession for His people, and to prepare a place for us there. • We know that all of this, and more, is the true meaning of Christmas. • We know that the real gift of Christmas is Christ Himself, John 3:16.

The Isaiah Project - The Dark Times Cometh

In Isaiah 6:1-8 Verse 1 mentions the death of King Uzziah. He was the tenth king of Judah and he was a very godly man. He was highly influenced by the prophet Zechariah and, unlike many of the other kings, he never totally departed from the worship of the true God. Under his influence, the southern kingdom attained power, wealth and success unlike any it had enjoyed since the days of Solomon. Made heady by his success as king and by his blessings from the Lord, Uzziah made the mistake of offering incense in the Temple, 2 Chron. 26. He was stricken with leprosy by the Lord for his disobedience to the Lord. He died in that leprous condition! Disobedience to the Lord is a serious thing! Well, evidently, Isaiah is disturbed by the death of the great king. After all, he had reigned for 52 years. His death signaled the end of a time of great prosperity and consistency. For Isaiah and the entire nation, it ushered in a time of uncertainty, change and doubt. Yet, for Isaiah, this is to be a time of rediscovery. Apparently Isaiah had his attention focused on Uzziah, but now that Uzziah is dead, his attention is redirected back to the Lord. What must have been a down time in the prophet’s life became an uptime. That which had help his attention was removed and Isaiah had a fresh encounter with God. What happened to Isaiah in this event spotlights for us what we need during the down times in our own lives. We all have down times in life! Those down times can grow us, or they can ruin us, which depends upon what has our attention.
