<p>A doença hepática gordurosa não alcoólica (DHGNA) é um grande termo que envolve desde a simples deposição de tecido adiposo no fígado a um progressivo processo de esteatose hepática associado a hepatite, fibrose, cirrose e, em alguns casos, carcinoma hepatocelular.</p> <p>Em consonância com o aumento mundial da prevalência de seus fatores de risco principais, como diabetes, obesidade e idade, ocorre o aumento na prevalência de doença hepática gordurosa não alcoólica. Dessa forma, os últimos estudos mostram prevalência global desse distúrbio estimada em cerca de 25%.</p>
