<p>Un diario de viajes, un lápiz y una mirada aguda. Tres herramientas aparentemente simples, pero que fueron indispensables en la obra de María Graham, prolífica escritora, botánica y dibujante de nacionalidad inglesa, que registró sucesos naturales y sociales en Chile. Una de sus más recordados registros fue una bitácora de viajes, donde relató el Terremoto de Valparaíso del 19 de noviembre de 1822, aportando observaciones y datos que luego serían cruciales para la sismología nacional y mundial.</p>

<p>Un estudio del Programa Riesgo Sísmico, publicado hace unos días en la revista Pure and Applied Geophysics, reúne observaciones de tsunamis recientes y nuevos antecedentes sismológicos. Una de las conclusiones es que los 30 metros de resguardo, que se han adoptado en Chile como medida de seguridad ante tsunamis, no son suficientes.</p> <p><br></p>
