In the Midst of Abundance yet so Poor and Disunited!
<p>Sierra Leone is a 73000 km² country on the bend of the West African coast in the Atlantic region. Thus she is in an equidistant position making it possible to fly a maximum of 8 hours to any major airport on the Atlantic as well as to major airports in east, north and southern Africa in 5 hours direct. By sea, any major seaport on the Atlantic can be reached between 14 and 16 days. Sierra Leone also has the largest natural deep-water harbour in all of Africa and the third in the world. The port area that can conveniently accommodate sea vessels of average size is from Kissy at the former Texaco terminal to the back of the police hospital at the kingdom by the Prince of Wales school. This means the port of Freetown has the potential to handle over 250 average size ships and have another 100 out on the sea at any point in time. This gives her the potential to be the key stevedoring port of west Africa and especially serve inland or landlocked countries which justifies a railway o serve the westAficna subregion. This potential can only be realised if a number of human and physical infrastructures are first put in place. This and how it can be done is what shall be discussed in this talk show.</p>
