Reprogramming Your Body's Aging Software
If you only remember 5 things: Exercise regularly (especially strength training + walking). Eat mostly plant-based whole foods. Get lots of fibre every day. Reduce excess animal protein and processed foods. Avoid constant snacking—allow time for your body to repair itself. One important caveat: some claims in this document (for example, exact supplement doses, "100 g+ fibre was ancestral norm," or specific lifespan extension percentages) are more speculative than others. The strongest evidence for healthy aging remains regular exercise, maintaining a healthy weight, eating a plant-rich diet, not smoking, sleeping well, and staying socially connected.

Why lifestyle beats genetics for Longevity
Key Takeaways The 80/20 Rule: Your daily lifestyle choices move the needle far more than your genetic code. Fasting for Repair: Periodic fasting triggers autophagy, the body's internal "cellular cleanup" process. The Sleep Sweet Spot: Aim for 6.5 to 8 hours of sleep; straying outside this window is linked to higher mortality risks. Physical Vitals: Walking speed and grip strength are more accurate indicators of your biological age than your date of birth. Connection is Medicine: Social ties act as a literal buffer against disease, while loneliness accelerates physical frailty.

Book Summary: Doing Good Better by William Macaskill
In Doing Good Better, William MacAskill argues that not all charitable efforts are equally effective and that we should use evidence and reason to maximise our positive impact. Many well-intentioned donations or actions may do little good or even cause harm, so it’s crucial to focus on cost-effectiveness. For example, providing malaria bed nets can save far more lives per dollar than funding a guide dog. He introduces the 80,000 Hours career framework, suggesting that choosing a high-paying career and donating strategically (“earning to give”) can often do more good than working directly for a charity. The book also emphasises thinking globally, as helping people in low-income countries is often far more impactful than local charity. MacAskill encourages using data-driven methods like randomised controlled trials to evaluate which interventions work best, and he introduces the concept of neglected causes, where a small effort can have a massive impact—such as fighting factory farming or addressing global risks like AI and pandemics. He also highlights the importance of counterfactual thinking, considering what would happen if we didn’t act—would someone else step in, or is our contribution uniquely valuable? Finally, he argues that doing good should be guided by reason, not just emotion, and that we have a moral obligation to use our resources wisely, just as we would feel compelled to save a drowning child if we could do so at little cost to ourselves.

Healthy Ageing with Carnivore and Fasting
As we age, muscle loss, inflammation, and chronic diseases become more common. But what if the key to longevity wasn’t in plants, grains, or supplements—but in the foods humans have thrived on for centuries? That’s where the carnivore diet comes in—a high-protein, nutrient-dense way of eating that eliminates processed foods, carbs, and plant-based anti-nutrients. Pairing the carnivore diet with fasting creates a powerful synergy for healthy ageing. Fasting is a reset for longevity. Healthy ageing is within reach by adopting a carnivore-based diet and incorporating fasting into your lifestyle. These strategies promote muscle strength, cognitive health, and metabolic balance, helping you age with energy and vitality.
