【番組詳細】 福岡市城南区にある小さな印刷所「文林堂」。店主の山田善之さん（84歳）は、幕末から続く日本の紙文化を支えてきた「活版印刷」の灯を、今も守り続けています。 指先でなぞると感じる言葉のくぼみや、インクの擦れが映し出す豊かな表情。鉛の活字を一つひとつ拾い、紙に言葉を刻み込んでいく作業は、気の遠くなるような手間と時間を要します。効率が最優先される現代において、あえてこの不器用な手仕事に向き合う山田さんのもとには、その技術と愛くるしい人柄に惹かれ、多くの若い世代が集まってきます。 物語の大きな軸となるのは、山田さんの「再生」と「挑戦」です。最愛の妻・ミヨ子さんを亡くして以来、自宅へは帰らず工房で寝泊まりするようになった山田さん。深い喪失感の中にいた彼が今、人生の集大成として挑んでいるのが、宮沢賢治の傑作『銀河鉄道の夜』の全編書籍化です。100ページ、4万本もの活字を必要とするこの無謀ともいえる挑戦に、廃業した印刷所から譲り受けた古い活字たちが新たな命を吹き込みます。 重厚な印刷機の駆動音、静かな夜の工房に響く活字の音、そして仲間たちとの愉快なおしゃべり。番組では、文林堂に流れる穏やかで心地よい時間を追いながら、一人の職人が一文字一文字に込める「人との繋がり」と「生きる喜び」を丁寧に描き出します。 【放送日時】 2026年5月14日(木) 22:20～22:50

巣鴨日記 あるBC級戦犯の生涯
福岡市の川端通、博多商人の家に生まれた冬至堅太郎は、終戦の年、陸軍主計中尉として西部軍にいた。6月19日、福岡市の中心部を焼き尽くした福岡大空襲で、堅太郎は母を失う。翌日、母の棺を作りに西部軍司令部の大工小屋にいたところ、九州内で墜落したB29爆撃機の搭乗員たちが処刑されているのに気づき、「自分はその役に最もふさわしい」と自ら志願して、借りた刀で米兵を斬首した。あわせて4人を手にかけた堅太郎は、戦後、BC級戦犯として米軍に捕らえられる。 1946年8月30日、東京・池袋にあったスガモプリズンに収監された堅太郎は、その日から日記をつけ始める。死刑を覚悟していた堅太郎は、自分の行く末を案じながら、内省的に自分をみつめた。堅太郎は妻や幼い二人の息子を想って手紙に涙し、面会を心待ちにする一方で、殺害した米兵にも家族が居たはずという妻の言葉を重く受け止める。2年後、堅太郎に宣告されたのは絞首刑だった。 番組では、冬至堅太郎の日記を軸に、戦犯裁判、死刑囚の日々をたどりながら、スガモプリズンで10年を過ごした堅太郎が福岡へ帰ってきたあとの足跡もたどる。
