Kenapa sih virus bisa kalah sama sabun? Karena struktur sabun secara kimia terdiri dari dua bagian, yaitu bagian hidrofilik (suka air) dan bagian hidrofobik (gak suka air). Sedangkan kebanyakan Virus juga memiliki struktur lipid bilayer, jadi di dalam membran lipidnya terdiri dari bagian hidrofilik dan hidrofobiknya juga. Pada saat kita cuci tangan pake sabun ke seluruh bangian kulit, molekul sabun menyebar dan masuk ke sela-sela membran lipid dari virus, hingga akhirnya membran lipid virus rusak/pecah. Membran lipid virus yang sudah pecah ini terus sama molekul-molekul sabun sehingga bagian hidrofobik sabun berinteraksi dengan bagian hidrofobik virus di bagian dalam. Nah waktu dibilas pake air bagian hidrofobik sabun dan virus terbawa oleh air. Begitu kira-kira kisah antara sabun dan virus saat kita cuci tangan.
