Somewhere around your late 40s or 50s, the questions change.
Not "what's next on the to-do list?" but "what's next, period?"
Who am I now that the kids need me less? What happens when work stops being the whole story? Is this actually it — or is there another level to play?
The Checkpoint Podcast: Questions is where Dex Eugenio sits with the questions that show up in midlife — career changes, identity, relationships, health, money, purpose — the stuff nobody really prepares you for. Some episodes are Dex thinking out loud and some are real conversations with people mid-reinvention. But all of them start with one question.
This isn't about having it all figured out. It's about admitting you don't, and staying curious about what's next anyway.
If you've built a genuinely good life and still catch yourself thinking "is this it?" Welcome, you're not the only one still figuring it out.
New episodes regularly. Every question is a checkpoint. Every checkpoint is a chance to keep playing.
Episode 38 | When was the last time you stopped and appreciated the life you're living?
When was the last time you stopped and appreciated the life you're living?
Between work, family, raising children and keeping up with everyday responsibilities, it's easy to get so caught up in doing things that we forget to enjoy what's happening around us.
In this episode of The Checkpoint, Dex shares another lesson he's learned as he approaches 50: the importance of stopping to smell the roses.
As a father of three, Dex talks about how quickly life seems to move once you start a family. One minute you're bringing your first child home, and before you know it, they're adults, learning to drive or making their own way through life.
And somewhere between school runs, work commitments, family responsibilities and everything else, the years seem to disappear.
Dex explores why it's important to occasionally slow down and appreciate not just the big milestones, but the everyday moments we often overlook.
He shares how journaling, walking without distractions and spending time with his own thoughts help him appreciate what he has, recognise what needs attention and make better decisions about what comes next.
But stopping to smell the roses isn't just about being grateful for family or appreciating the good things in life.
It's also about taking stock of your health, relationships, career and personal growth, rather than constantly moving from one responsibility to the next.
Because sometimes we're so busy planning what happens next that we forget to enjoy what's happening right now.
Maybe life isn't always about doing more, achieving more or getting somewhere faster.
Maybe sometimes the most important thing we can do is stop long enough to appreciate how far we've already come.

Episode 37 | Why Is It So Hard for Men to Ask for Help?
Why is it so hard to ask for help as we get older?
As we get older, we're supposed to have things figured out. We've gained experience, built careers, raised families and learned how to deal with life's challenges. But does that mean we should be able to handle everything on our own?
In this episode of The Checkpoint, Dex shares one of the biggest lessons he's learned as he approaches 50: the importance of asking for help.
He talks about how pride, ego and the fear of appearing weak have often stopped him from reaching out, even when he knew he could benefit from someone else's experience or advice.
Looking back on nearly 30 years of running his own business and working in IT, Dex considers how differently things might have turned out if he'd been more willing to ask questions, seek guidance and accept support.
But it's not just about business.
Dex explores how personal problems can become much bigger when we keep them to ourselves, imagining the worst possible outcomes instead of dealing with situations before they get out of hand.
He also questions why asking for help comes so naturally to children, yet becomes something many adults struggle with as they get older.
Because somewhere along the way, we start believing that being capable means being able to do everything ourselves.
Maybe asking for help isn't a sign that we haven't figured life out.
Maybe it's one of the smartest things we can learn to do, no matter how old we are.

Episode 36 | Have You Mistaken Stability for Happiness?
Have I mistaken stability for happiness?
Having a steady routine, knowing what to expect and feeling comfortable with how life is going can be reassuring. But does that necessarily mean we're happy?
In this episode of The Checkpoint, Dex explores the relationship between stability, routine and happiness, and why he believes they're not necessarily the same thing.
For Dex, happiness often comes from creativity, curiosity, trying something new and imagining what's possible. But having a predictable routine plays an important role in making those experiences possible.
He shares how everyday activities, like walking his dog Hugo or driving between work appointments, give him the mental space to think, listen to audiobooks, explore new ideas and imagine what he wants to do next.
These routines might not make him happy on their own, but they create opportunities for the things that do.
Dex also considers how much time and energy we spend organising our lives, making decisions and dealing with everyday responsibilities, and how having some stability can free us to focus on what really matters to us.
Because there's a difference between being comfortable with your life and genuinely enjoying it.
Maybe stability isn't the same thing as happiness.
Maybe it's what gives us the freedom to discover what makes us happy in the first place.
