Dowry/ Dahej System: A Social Stigma by Dr. Anjali | The Social Intercourse | feat- Shubh Mirzapuriya (Episode-1 )
She is the Daughter of India, a Doctor, a housewife, a master student, and most importantly a beautiful person by heart who is outspoken when it comes to social culture and its atrocious ideologies. Dowry or Dahej, one of the deep-rooted social evils, is flourishing in our society at an unprecedented rate. There is no denying the fact that modern citizens condemn it, yet this practice varies according to the region, caste, and creed. From being a financial burden on a daughter’s family to wastage of money, this evil is silently claiming the lives of innocent married women. Although our Constitution grants equal rights to women but has our patriarchal society stopped seeing them as more than a personal possession? Simply put, the infamous dowry system dehumanizes females by treating them as exchangeable commodities.
Creating social awareness among the masses should be the first step in the fight to eradicate this social evil and that is What Dr. Anjali talks about in this podcast. This podcast would entail about what happened with Her when she was getting married and how she copes with this dahej system. She also talks boldly about How women can increase their voice and gave her views on how to eradicate the dahej system to the government.
Hope you will love this podcast and listen to what she wants to say.
