Conferir um significado preciso a uma obra através do estabelecimento de relações formais ou funcionais entre o novo e o existente. Por meio de uma análise analógica ou comparativa, é possível identificar o que o arquiteto pensou prioritariamente enquanto criava e o que deixou para um estágio posterior no processo de projeto.
