Welcome to Utter Rubbish, a show created by teachers for teachers. But we're not just talking about the education sector, we also cover life in the UAE, movies, books, culture and everything in between. We just like to think of ourselves as all-knowing and super entertaining!
Psst... we've got some cool sponsors too!
New episodes come out every Friday, and you can catch us on Spotify, iTunes and all the major podcast hosting sites...
We're back! In 2020! Well, we took a hiatus for a while, and we'll get to that soon... but today we've got one of our older guests. It's Liza!
We get to talking about the pandemic and how it's affected our lives, in education and personally too. It's time to look at things a bit more optimistically, and even though we don't know what the future holds... we're ready for it...
Utter Rubbish will try to stay a lot more on schedule... no promises, though!

PS: Next week we grill Suzanne on how up-to-date she is with today's lingo... if you've got any to contribute, then do head over to our FB page and let us know....

Episode 18 - Family Vacation
The UAE is a prime destination for tourism, and as teachers in the UAE, it is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the best of what the UAE has to offer. Plus, it's winter and Christmas is on it's way!
However, this may not always be easy on a teacher's salary. So, Suzanne and I decided to talk about a couple of things that may make it easy for you if you're planning to get your family here for very first time.
It was fun reminiscing about the various times our respective family members have been here; and even though it's a short episode, I think we had fun.
If you've got some tips, then do let us know on our FB page!

Winter's here.... the evenings are dark and gloomy... which means it's time to put on a show! You know... the one where kids go up on stage and make their parents proud.
So how do the performing arts contribute to a child's holistic development? How important is it for a school to invest in a good performing arts program? What should parents and teachers be looking for in an annual production?
We've got all the answers! Just keep listening....

Episode 15 - Keep Calm & Carry On
So we just got inspected (2 weeks ago) and we're sorry we couldn't put out a couple of episodes in between. But we're back! And we're here to talk about stress management.
Stress hits us all, sometimes when we least expect it. Suzanne and I deconstruct what it's like to go through a week of inspections and whether it's worth the stress or not.

Episode 14 - Feedback to Win
We've all been there, and at some point you're either observing someone, or being observed yourself. This week I talk about what I've learned from my observation of a few teachers. We stress upon the importance of having a system in place, team work, planning and practicing in order to get better at your craft.
We also talk about common missteps teachers new to this region could take and how to quickly correct them.
Finally, we've managed to source two amazing sponsors with innovative products, and we've decided to endorse them.
Enjoy!
